Holywater is behind My Drama and was founded in Kyiv in 2020. October 2025 is when Fox Entertainment acquired an equity stake. ReelShort debuted in 2022, and DramaBox followed in 2023.
Can I watch in a browser or on TV?
Yes, but with limits. My Drama has a dedicated Apple TV app. We found no verified ReelShort TV app. Google, Facebook, Apple, TikTok and email logins all work on ReelShort’s website. The app and the site sync your progress. Free unlocks happen only in the app.

Questions about money come up most. All figures show US App Store prices as of September 2026. They differ according to country, platform and promotion. Every number is best read as approximate. Always start by checking the price screen. Here is what the listings show.
Is ReelShort free to use?
Partly, and the free part is genuinely free. Anyone searching “is reel short free” or “is reel short app free” wants the catch. Downloading is free. Opening episodes come free. Coins or a VIP pass unlock the later ones. Free coins come from ads and check-ins.
How do coins work?
Coins serve as the currency that unlocks episodes. ReelShort’s blog puts an episode at roughly 60 coins. For roughly $4.99, the smallest pack gives you 500 coins. Bonus coins come with bigger packs. You earn 100+ coins with a 7-day check-in streak. One rewarded ad unlocks two episodes.
Can coins expire?
It comes down to the app. ReelShort notes that free reward coins usually expire. The coins you paid for do not expire. My Drama handles coins differently. Under its terms, coins are forfeited after 12 months of inactivity. Keep active and use reward coins first.
How much does a weekly pass cost?
Roughly $19.99 a week is the typical US price. You will see it listed by ReelShort, ShortMax, DramaWave, GoodShort and My Drama. Some apps display cheaper options. ShortMax shows a $9.99 tier, and GoodShort’s pricing starts around $5.99. Every one of these passes renews on its own. Four weeks you forget about cost four times as much.
Do apps offer monthly or yearly plans?
They are offered in some apps. ReelShort’s blog lists a yearly plan at roughly $199.99. The monthly price varies from page to page. That makes the figure unconfirmed. DramaWave lists about $36.99 a month. In the US, ShortMax shows only weekly passes.
Can I watch without paying?
Yes, if you have patience. Start by watching each series’ free first episodes. Use rewarded ads to unlock more. Don’t break your daily check-in streak. ReelShort also has official YouTube, TikTok and Dailymotion channels. Using all four together goes furthest.
Subscriptions and Cancellation
Weekly passes do not stop renewing until you stop them. That comes as a surprise to plenty of people. Cancelling takes little time once you know where. How you paid determines where you cancel. Purchases made in a store are cancelled by that store. Website purchases are handled by the company.
Does deleting the app cancel the subscription?
No, and it is a common mistake. According to Apple, removing an app does not end its subscription. Google says the same about uninstalling. The same warning shows up in My Drama’s terms. The pass does not stop renewing until you cancel. First cancel, then delete.
How can I cancel on iPhone?

Can I cancel from inside the app?
Sometimes, though the store path is safer. ShortMax’s terms refer to an in-app option under About Subscription. Those terms direct store buyers to App Store or Google Play. Only what Apple and Google billed is under their control. Anyone who bought on the website should contact the company. Take a screenshot of every cancellation.
Why did I get charged after a free trial?
The way trials are worded can confuse. ShortMax’s “free trial” and “24 hours free” labels confused people, its developer admits. Its terms say passes renew 24 hours before they expire. The same price applies to the renewal. A day before any trial ends, cancel. Afterward, check that the store shows it cancelled.
Refunds
How refunds work depends on who took your money. Play charges are handled by Google. App Store charges are handled by Apple. Companies handle website charges. None of these routes guarantees a refund. This table sets out each path.

How can I get an Apple refund?
Apple’s Report a Problem page is where you start. Sign in with the Apple ID that paid. Choose the charge and explain briefly. Apple’s reply usually arrives within 24 to 48 hours. Apple makes the call, not the app developer. Cancel the pass as well, or it renews.
How do Google Play refunds work?
What matters most here is timing. Within 48 hours of purchase, Google says you may get a refund. Make the request directly through Google Play. Once that window passes, contact the developer. ReelShort points users to Profile, then Feedback. Act fast when a renewal surprises you.
What about purchases made on a website?
The app company handles those. Apple and Google cannot help there. Under My Drama’s terms, web purchases are non-refundable except where law requires. EU and UK users get a 14-day withdrawal right under its terms. Other companies make their own rules. Before you pay online, read the terms.
Can I refund unused coins?
Usually not, and the terms state it. My Drama’s terms call coin purchases final. Unless its own fault makes a product unusable, ShortMax declines refunds. With accidental purchases, a store request may help. Until a series grabs you, stick to the smallest bundle. Then mistakes cost you less.
Staying Safe from Look-Alike Apps
Confusion over names is everywhere here. Small unrelated apps appear after misspellings. Certain sites copy well-known brands. A few downloads pose a risk. Your money is protected by using real names. These answers separate real from fake.
Is Real Short an actual app?
No, we could not find one. Real Short is simply ReelShort misspelled. The same goes for “real short app”, “realshot”, “reel shot” and likely “shot shorts” too. The real name is one word. On the App Store, its seller is New Leaf Publishing. Check that before you download.
What are the ReelBox, DailyShort and GoldShort TV apps?
All three are small, unrelated apps. Found via “reel box” or “reelbox tv”, ReelBox has 50K+ Android installs. It is not linked to ReelShort or DramaBox. DailyShort, often typed “daily short”, has 100K+ installs. GoldShort TV, an Android TV app, has 10K+ installs. Most people searching probably mean GoodShort.
Are ShortTV and ShortMax the same?
Very likely, although it is unconfirmed. The legal entity behind ShortMax is SHORTTV LIMITED in Hong Kong. Its website redirects to ShortTV’s site. Both apps arrived in September 2023. There is no official rename announcement that we found. Searching “short tv” or “short max” also brings up unrelated apps.
Can mod APKs and coin generators be trusted?
No, and none of them is official. Altered app copies from outside official stores are what mod APKs are. One DramaBox look-alike describes its download as an unofficial modified version. Coin generators, too, are unofficial. You cannot confirm what they do. Stay with official stores and websites.
Why is ReelShort rated low on Trustpilot?
From 250 reviews, ReelShort’s Trustpilot page shows 1.3 out of 5. A frequent complaint is being charged after cancelling. Weekly auto-renewals are mentioned often. Others complain about coin prices and denied refunds. What any review site reflects is the people who chose to post. Treat it as a list of things to check, not a verdict.
